About Jasmine
Hey there,
I’m Jasmine (she/her/hers)
I’m an artist who works primarily in poetry and filmmaking. I love being active, I'm often at the beach or taking the occasional hike. In my free time, I build worlds and character stories in the Sims 4. I enjoy spending tons of time on Youtube (DIY videos are my jam). I'm also a collector of tarot/oracle/affirmation cards.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a literacy mentor and client support person in nonprofit organizations. I loved connecting with the people that these organizations served. However, I noticed that beyond the material resources these organizations offered, many of our clients really wanted someone to talk to about their lives. I realized that I wanted to be that person. So, I returned to school to become a therapist. I love working with folx who identify as LGBTQIA+, people of color, professional or aspiring artists/creatives, or any intersection of these identities. It’s important to me to hold space for people who are feeling disconnected from themselves, their communities, and their work. I know firsthand what it’s like to struggle to be heard, to be seen, and to be present in life. We all have a voice and creatives have unique ways of expressing themselves in the world. I offer a therapy experience that honors that expression.
I completed a master’s degree in counseling psychology with a concentration in expressive arts therapy from California Institute of Integral Studies. I am currently a therapist working with Reconnect Marriage and Family Counseling, located in Los Angeles, CA. I am currently supervised by Maral Malekian through Reconnect and work with Jill Therrien, LMFT, REAT as I pursue certification as a registered expressive arts therapist.
